BMW 7 Series: Adjusting
General information
Depending on the vehicle equipment and country
version, various settings for opening and closing
are possible.
These settings are stored for the driver profile
currently used.
Unlocking and locking
Doors
Via iDrive:
- "CAR"
- "Settings"
- "Key button settings"
- Select the symbol.
- Select the desired setting:
- "Driver's door only"
Only the driver's door and the fuel filler
flap are unlocked. Pressing again unlocks
the entire vehicle.
- "All doors"
The entire vehicle is unlocked.
Confirmation signals from the
vehicle
Via iDrive:
- "CAR"
- "Settings"
- "Doors/Access"
- Deactivate or activate the desired confirmation
signals:
- "Flash when locking/unlocking"
Unlocking is signaled by two flashes, locking
by one.
- With alarm system:
"Sound when locking/unlocking"
Unlocking is confirmed with two sound
signals, locking is confirmed with one
sound signal.
Folding mirrors automatically
Via iDrive:
- "CAR"
- "Settings"
- "Doors/Access"
- "Fold mirrors in when locked"
The exterior mirrors are automatically folded
in during locking.
Automatic unlocking
Via iDrive:
- "CAR"
- "Settings"
- "Doors/Access"
- "Unlock at end of trip"
After drive-ready state is switched off by
pressing the Start/Stop button, the locked vehicle
is automatically unlocked.
Automatic locking
Via iDrive:
- "CAR"
- "Settings"
- "Doors/Access"
- Select the desired setting:
- "Lock automatically"
The vehicle locks automatically after a
while if no door is opened after unlocking.
- "Lock after starting to drive"
The vehicle locks automatically after you
drive off.
Trunk lid
Trunk lid and doors
Depending on the vehicle equipment and country
version, this setting may not be offered.
Via iDrive:
- "CAR"
- "Settings"
- "Key button settings"
Select the symbol.
- Select the desired setting:
- "Tailgate"
The trunk lid is opened.
- "Tailgate and door(s)"
The trunk lid is opened and the doors are
unlocked.
Comfort Access
Touchless locking and unlocking
- "CAR"
- "Settings"
- "Doors/Access"
- "Comfort access"
- Select the desired setting:
- "Unlock when approaching"
- "Lock when walking away"
Establishing idle state after
opening the front doors
Via iDrive:
- "CAR"
- "Settings"
- "Doors/Access"
- "Turn off vehicle after opening door"
Opening the front doors establishes the idle
state.

The safety switch in the driver's door can be
used to prevent children from operating the roller
sunblind using the switches in the rear, for instance.
