BMW 7 Series: Electronic Damping Force Adjustment

REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING VERTICAL DYNAMICS MANAGEMENT CONTROL UNIT (VDM WITH DYNAMIC DRIVE)

IMPORTANT: Read and comply with notes on PROTECTION AGAINST ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE (ESD PROTECTION).

Necessary preliminary tasks

  • Remove ignition key
  • Disconnect BATTERY NEGATIVE LEAD
  • Remove SIDE TRIM PANEL FROM FOOTWELL ON RIGHT A-PILLAR

Fold carpet in footwell at bottom right to one side.

Release screws (1).

Tightening torque 37 14 6AZ.

Unlock plug connections (1) in direction of arrow and disconnect.

Remove control unit.

After installation

  • Replacement only: Carry out PROGRAMMING/ENCODING

REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING VERTICAL DYNAMICS MANAGEMENT CONTROL UNIT (VDM)

IMPORTANT: Read and comply with notes on PROTECTION AGAINST ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE (ESD PROTECTION).

Necessary preliminary tasks

  • Remove ignition key
  • Disconnect BATTERY NEGATIVE LEAD
  • Remove SIDE TRIM PANEL from footwell on right A-pillar

Fold carpet in footwell at front right to one side.

Unscrew nuts (1).

Tightening torque 37 14 6AZ.

Unlock plug connections (1) in direction of arrow and disconnect.

Remove control unit.

After installation

  • Replacement only: Carry out PROGRAMMING/ENCODING
